Cameron Crazy Mom Feelings

Being pregnant and "making a miracle" is supposed to be one of the most special times in a woman's life. The sickness associated with pregnancy however has many mothers to be, desperately searching for effective morning sickness cures and other morning sickness remedies.

Any sickness during pregnancy is unpleasant and yet morning sickness strikes anywhere between 5 and 8 women in ten! Sadly for many mom's, these feelings of nausea can be quite extreme and also are not only limited to the morning but in fact all day and all through the night!

To add even more pain for those afflicted, general morning sickness starts around about weeks 4 to 6 and then abates after the 16th week. For some moms however this ailing condition lasts the entire pregnancy. I actually know of several women who have had extreme sickness throughout their pregnancy and were still throwing up just before and even into their labor!

Even my very own wife has absolutely awful morning sickness and I have to tell you it was so hard to watch her suffer all the way through her whole pregnancy - twice! Knowing there was nothing I could do but try and support her was terrible. When your wife is throwing up after every meal and sometimes even just a drink, countless times throughout the day and the night, the kind words of a husband just don't cut it! J I would often come home from work only to find her sobbing on the steps, at her wits end and believe me, she is a tough cookie too!

With this sort of trauma, is it any wonder that many women (and myself included as we still want to grow our family) desperately and frantically search for effective morning sickness cures and remedies?

Thankfully, there are some effective cures for morning sickness out there. Some work better than others, some are merely old wives tales and some just plain don't work at all!

The crazy thing too is that what might work with one lady, will have no significant impact on another! Even science is baffled about what causes morning sickness and how to combat it 100%

Cameron Crazy Mom Techniques

Try some of these common techniques:

  • Try laying the seat back when in the car - obviously not if you are driving! J
  • The old favorite of eating dry crackers, toast and even dry cereal can help.
  • B6 vitamins are raved about by many mothers. See your doctor or naturopath to make sure you use the correct dosage.
  • Try and keep cool as often as you can because many mom's report that exposure to heat really sets off their nausea.
  • Go to bed early, try and sleep in and squeeze in as many naps as you can! So much is happening in your body throughout the process of growing a human! It makes great sense to ensure you are not more tired than you should be. Additionally, when getting up in the morning or after a nap, take it easy and don't jump or get up quickly. Ease yourself into it!
  • Smells often set off morning sickness. Even smells that the potential mother may have used to love or find intoxicating can send them hurtling for the toilet bowl! For this reason, try and cook in a well ventilated area and turn on your kitchen exhaust fans. If you can't get away from a smell, always carry with you a handkerchief that has had a few drops of a non nausea causing essential oil such as lemon or peppermint and have a few sniffs.
  • With a lot of vomiting comes the potential for dehydration. Make sure you drink plenty of water in small amounts throughout the day and night.
  • Even though you may hate the thought of eating anything, try your hardest not to skip meals.
  • When making food choices, eat less food more often and you may find that cold or room temperature foods are much easier to stomach than hot and spicy foods. Try and eat some good protein rich foods too. Eating anything with ginger is also one of the most common morning sickness remedies.
  • If things continue to worsen and the dangers of dehydration and poor nutrition really become a threat, your doctor may also become involved. There are several medications that doctors will provide in order for you to beat or lessen the effects of pregnancy caused nausea however many mom's prefer to find non drug related remedies and cures for their morning sickness.
